Cricut mug press

GF recently got a cricut mug press. We went through the activation steps each it tells us it is activated but the light stays blinking orange. We activated again and again and nothing. Turned it on and off and nothing. Restarted computer and nothing. She ended up buying exchanging thinking it was defective and same issue with this one . Any idea what's going on?
