Firmware, security and new strict policies
Post Body

Background on the company: We are the "IT Department" for our customers, we deliver; network, computers, meeting room installations and much more.

The company I work for is now taking a stand on all devices connected to our network. We have setup quite a few devices at many customers. All devices needs to be patched to the latest firmware and all devices needs to be secured with credentials.

What I have done so far is to make a Python script that is gathering all IPs of devices in our system, then connecting to each device via Telnet and running a few commands, gathering the response and saving it in a JSON-file. This is working fine on a several hundred devices, but not all. Devices I have yet to get a connection to: TX, RMC, TMPC-4SMD and more. Devices that has successfully connected to and checked: CP3(N), DMPS-4K-300-C, FT-TS600, MC3, RMC3, TPCS-4SMD, TSS-752, TSW-1050/2, TSW-550/2, TSW-750/2, TSW-*60.

We would like to automate most of the process of gathering info from the devices, setting settings and updating firmware.

What's your experience with this? How do you guys mass-manage all of your devices? Any other tips or tricks?
