I don't really know if I belong on this subreddit, as my Creative Writing projects are often Fanfictions. I just struggle to come up with original concepts for entire Character casts, universes, etc, so taking a franchise I'm passionate about and working from there is my go-to for writing. I feel like the people here are gonna yell at fanfiction writers, because all of the poems, stories, etc you bring to the table are without an ounce of influence from previous art, so I'm hoping that I'm wrong, and that when I've finished with my current story "Overwatch: Rising from the Ashes" that I can share it here and earn some fair reviews and criticism.
Another problem is that in previous instances for writing stories, I have an idea for a start and an end, but often the journey between the two doesn't go as smoothly as I'd like it to go, I drag it out for too long, then I get bored and abandon it. So recently, for my attempt at Overwatch's universe, I've been creating a slideshow, one or two slides for each chapter, listing all the important points that happen within this part of the story, and then creatively write it up once I've reached the point I want the story to end at and I have all the pieces I'm working with in front of me. Is this a good solution to the problem? If not, what would be a better way to do it for future stories?
EDIT: I just wanted to thank everyone for the support. I was really kinda afraid of asking for help here, and you guys have all been so kind to me about it. :)
