"Quality of Life" Patch Testing: Important Info!
Post Body

[EDIT: Version 1.1.1 is now available in beta channels!]

HEY, GANG! We're going to start testing the Quality of Life (QOL) patch soon (within the next day or two). The patch is not finished, but we want to go ahead and start testing what is finished, so we can catch bugs early and get them taken care of. The patch will only be available in beta and unstable channels on the various platforms for testing, so if you want early access, you'll need to opt-in.

If you would like to get in on testing the QOL patch (and give us feedback), we'll have instructions below. But before you do, there's one REALLY important thing to note about this patch. That is:

If you play a save on the QOL patch, that save will only be playable on other devices that have also been updated to the QOL patch. This is because some new items are being added to the game, and this creates reverse-incompatibility with older versions of the game.

This is especially important to note, because we will not be able to keep all four OSs on exactly the same version at all times during the beta (due to Testflight builds requiring approval), meaning during updates, you may temporarily be unable to play your save on some of your devices if you're bouncing between devices.

Also, remember that this is a beta. Things break in betas, and by opting in to the beta, you open yourself up to the risk of coming across insane, game-breaking bugs that might ruin everything forever, including your entire life, your marriage, and your dog. Yes... that's right. This patch might ruin your dog.

ANYWAYS, if you want to get in on the QOL patch, here's how to do it!

Android: Join the Bscotch Early Access Google Group and wait for announcements to slap you in the eyes!

iOS: Download the Testflight app, and send us your Testflight info using this form! (Note: Testflight gives us limited space, so we may not get everyone added.)

Steam: Simply right-click Crashlands in your games library, go to "Properties," and go to the "Betas" tab. In there, select the "Unstable" option from the dropdown. When we put out the patch for testing, it will auto-update for you.

How to give feedback during testing

Before testing, log in with BscotchID and make sure your save is in the cloud. This is important for the safety of your save, and to help us test.

We will be adding a "Feedback" button to the pause menu. To report an issue to us, simply pause your game and hit that button. You will be taken to a web form, where you can report your issue. You will also be able to see other issues reported by other users, so if someone else has reported the same issue you are reporting, you can "upvote" it and, if you have more to add, add a reply to their issue report with more information. If your issue is a new one, write it up and send it off!

When you report an issue, a duplicate of your save file will be uploaded to our server and made available for us to pull down, so we should be more easily able to replicate the issue you reported.

Also, remember that the patch is basically entirely being coded by me -- Seth -- and I'm one guy. I'm only going to be looking in ONE place for problems with the QOL patch, and that's the feedback form. If you have an issue to report and send me tweets, post in Reddit, PM me on our forums, send me a Snapchat, or instagram me a picture of your potato salad, I'm not going to see it. So... just use the feedback form.

What we need feedback on

We already have a HUUUUGE laundry list of items we are still working on to add to the Quality of Life Patch. So we currently aren't looking for new ideas on things to add to the game. All we need feedback on in this patch is whether things are working as intended, or if they need to be modified to work better (or fixed to make them work in general). In other words, we only need feedback on bugs or crashes, and whatever is in the patch notes.

Also, we would greatly appreciate it if you read through Adam's well-written post on how to give good and useful feedback during a Beta test.

AND, OF COURSE... THANK YOU ALL for your help! We love you. Don't ever change, babies.
