I am planning on building a stage prop that resembles a faberge egg for a drag pageant. The idea is that the egg opens in wedge pieces revealing the contestant inside (egg image is the inspiration). There will people stage hands holding each wedge so I dont need it to actually open up. I just need to get the general shape of half of the egg.
My idea is to think of the over all shape like a dome but for the wedges view them as ovals with points. I dont want them flat I want them to have a convex curve to them to make the shape more realistic. Here is where I need advice my plan was to use PVC Pipe and heat them and give the flat wedge a slight bend to it. Has anyone done anything like this? Is there other materials I should consider that easier to work with? other ideas?
the Url link is for where I got the dome and wedge idea from. hopefully it helps visualize my thoughts https://youtu.be/X_BrMhuh118?t=253
