Question about smoking resin

Whenever I claim my resin I use the scrape method, heat it up a little then scraped it all out. Whenever I try to smoke what I’ve claimed I never seem to get as big of hits as I should be. Am I missing a step? I even put a drop of water on the chore w the resin to keep it together. I’ve also tried without the water & even less smoke. I’m putting plenty in. Any advice?
