My shit keeps tasting burnt, I get no smoke, and then all the oil is in the stem. What am I doing wrong?

I tighten the chore, but then it seems too tight. Then when it's loose I get a hit but I got oil right below the chore. I like to break my shit into lil ass rocks. Is that the problem? Am I melting it too fast?
I put the stem straight up in the air, spin it while touching the flame to tbe product for half a sec till its done cracking, bring it down to a straight angle and spin while inhaling. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesnt. What gives?
