tw: mention of self harm, police
Yesterday, I had a couple of friends call the police on me over concerns that I was going to harm myself. I was just experiencing another depressive episode to me, and while catasrophizing, could be talked down.
My college “friends” then decided to call the police over the belief that it would at least ensure that I would end up alive. While I see the thought behind it, I’m left terribly disappointed in them. My white friends STILL hold the belief that they did the right thing, knowing that the risk of someone being hurt is far higher when a cop is involved with me, a black queer person.
I’m disappointed that there are people out there who’ll say ACAB and yet won’t deal with the fact that that means not calling the cops. There are alternatives, especially to crisis situations. I’m just disappointed and irritated.
