Serialize a map and read members without loading the entire object into ram

Post Body

I have an unordered_map which is huge, and want to serialize it and read it back into memory.

However, since the map is huge, I would prefer to read elements of the map (preferably by key) into memory without re-loading the entire map.

I used the Cereal serialization framework before which seems incapable of this. I would be looking for other good solutions (protobuf seems like a contender at the moment).
