I was never tested for COVID, but back around February before it was big news, I had gotten sicker than I’ve EVER been in my life. It started with coughing up a weird, stringy mucus that looked like it came straight from my lungs, like, it was tree shaped if I stretched it out. Then I felt like I couldn’t get a big enough breath for about a week, scared the shit out of me so I finally went to the doctor, and I was diagnosed with asthma. Mind you, I’ve never ever had an asthma issue in my life. I had to get a breathing treatment, and a prednisone shot, plus I have, and still have a rescue inhaler, that provided a little bit of relief. My sense of smell and taste were gone for a while as well, and now I know that’s a symptom as well.
I got a little better, and I got sick with the same thing a couple weeks later, but I was also throwing up, going from super sweaty to shivering cold in a literal matter of minutes. I couldn’t even walk to the bathroom without feeling like I need to use the inhaler ASAP. I was sick for about two weeks before I had the energy to even shower without feeling like I was literally going to die. And I was extremely tired, all of the time. My doctor pretty much said it was a pretty nasty chest infection of some sort. It gives me anxiety thinking about ever being sick like that again, not being able to get a good enough breath is some scary shit.
I then developed some gnarly heartburn that would not go away, and I was throwing up every morning. Went to the doctors again, and got diagnosed with GERD, which is again, weird because I’ve never had any issues with my stomach and all of this came out of nowhere.
And now, after 6-ish months, I’m constantly ALL day EVERY day feeling like I need to clear my throat. And there’s always mucus that comes up. It doesn’t even feel as though it’s in my lungs, it’s just my throat. It’s driving me insane. I’m constantly spitting, it’s gross, embarrassing, and maddening. It’s the worst when I first wake up, and at night. Please tell me I’m not the only one experiencing this?
