Recently I joined this group. I have been most interested in trying to learn more about what has happened to me. My Covid story is pretty simple. Traveled out of the country (Jamaica) the first week of September. Fully vaccinated updated booster whatever. By the 12th of September I was ill & tested positive. Two others in my group also tested positive but I'm the only one that lost taste and smell. September 21st all symptoms gone. September 23rd, woke up with my legs burning , almost a tearing feeling. Lots of cramping in the thighs and the calves. And lots of itching in those same places, unstoppable itching. The symptoms lasted for about 3 days and then begin to wane. By the end of September they were mostly gone except for the phantom itching and the occasional burning and tearing sensation in the leg muscles. However I can only shuffle my feet. I can't lift my feet very high. I began to stop my toe on the stairs in their home. It got worse and worse. It takes so much effort to walk that in a short distance or particularly uphill I am out of energy & so fatigued that I must stop. October I get to my doctor. They tell me this is happening with a lot of people post COVID. They tell me not to exercise. Waiting on some blood test to see if that was safe, something about permanent muscle damage versus temporary. Other than telling me to take Tylenol and Advil pretty much rest. So I came in here and asked some questions and read a lot of post. I want to thank everyone for the advice. The things that were suggested that I have incorporated are creatine, high protein diet supplemented with milk whey. Support hose. I think all but the support hose have benefited me. Though the ones that were using were your fitting and I have some that I was measured for and should be arriving shortly. I returned to my doctor yesterday. I explained to him that I had started a walking route from my front door to my neighbor's mailbox and back. That I timed this daily to see if I was improving or was I deteriorating. He said the muscle test were suggesting that it was not permanent muscle damage and that this type of light cardio exercise would be beneficial. My physician also suggested increasing my D3 and taking a collagen supplement. Those both should be here tomorrow. I've switched from any processed foods, except for ramen, and mostly high protein foods like eggs and legumes and more natural fruits fruit juices and water. Cut the soda consumption down to maybe two cans a day. Some suggested adding superfoods and foods that were rich in antioxidant properties. The ones that we have been able to incorporate so far are honey, tea, blueberries and dark chocolate. I feel like this healthier diet is also benefiting me.
I am very slowly getting faster times on this route. It's not every day that it gets faster but overall I have gotten about 10% faster in just a week. I realize that I've got months of this ahead of me to see any really substantial gains. I'm certainly willing to do so.
I guarantee you I would not be doing this well without the suggestions that I received here.
Thanks everyone. I sincerely appreciate the help.
Peace
