I created this subreddit because I saw a lot of posts related to cover design sprinkled in tangential subs, like r/writing, r/selfpublish and genre-specific subs. If you love cover art (raises hand) as an author or designer, or simply want to get it right for your book, you're welcome to use this as a conference table, an announcement board, or simply a water cooler.
Here are some things that might be cool here:
Requests for feedback about your cover. Use the tag [FEEDBACK] in the title for best response.
Finding a cover artist. Describe your project and budget and see if anyone matches you. My only request is that you don't ask designers to work on spec here (ie. have multiple people submit, and then you choose and pay the winning design).
Sharing your cover art services. Use the tag [ARTIST] in the title.
Discussions on cover design trends and genre expectation.
Tutorials for DIY covers.
Sharing experiences of hiring a freelance designer.
Whatever you guys find interesting relating to book cover design!
I know a few cover artists (and am one) so if we can get some traction here, I could pull some in for AMAs and stuff. Suggestions are also welcome - just PM me.
Thanks!
