Best laptop for court reporting

Hey yall!
My laptop finally broke down and it’s time for a new one.
I’m finishing school so I was hoping to purchase one for class and to use once I start my job as a court reporter.
I’m wondering what kind of laptops yall use or if you have any info about which ones would work best to get started.
I DO NOT WANT A MAC and my budget is less than $500 if that’s even possible.
