Wanting to Get Serious About Commentary

Post Body

So, I've been doing competitive commentary on my twitch channel for the past few years and while I've gotten to do commentary for some small scale events with organizations like UTG and Esports Wales, I've been wanting to get into the commentary scene and work some real events for a long time now, but I have no idea where to start. I've been hosting my own custom 5v5's every week and I'm glad to say they've been doing well, but I want to get in to proper tournament casting. Almost every time I ask for help from someone on my channel I normally get a response along the lines of "Just send an email to Flashpoint, I'm sure they'd love to help you out!" and then I have to explain that that's not really an option anymore. I've tried messaging big casters for advice before for like people recommend, but as you can imagine, I've never once gotten a response, so it doesn't really feel like that's an option either.

It's frustrating because, and I promise I'm not trying to brag or show off, but people are always telling me that I'm really good at what I do and that I should be getting paid for this and "oh man, you could cast the next major!" and I have to answer, "yeah it would be nice" like I haven't been trying to get noticed for the past 4 years. With what I had mentioned before about not finding success in some of the major routes that people recommend, I'm getting more and more frustrated because I do love this game and I want to do what I do on a larger scale, but I feel stuck. I feel like the primary routes to do this on a larger scale aren't really viable, so I have to sit around with my thumb up my ass and pray to god someone notices me and I'm tired of it. Overall, I love this game and I love being a part of the community and being able to host my own 5v5's and all the good things people say about them, and I'm frustrated that I can't find a way in to do any of that on a larger scale. If anyone knows of any organizations that might be looking for casters or any way I might get noticed by a larger organization, I'm all ears.
