Hi,
I'm new to the couchsurfing lifestyle and I was wondering how many people you've hosted.
I plan to host in an appartment in a big touristy city.
Feel free to share some of the wisdom you've accumulated as an host over the years.
Hosted over 150 surfers, would agree to exchange some messages to make sure they are the right fit.
Be clear about what you are able to offer with regards to accommodation and the social experience such as if you can show them around or not and check what they are after has some alignment - for me if they are just after a free place to sleep that's not someone I want to host.
I sometimes accept or so maybe and then if doesn't seem like it will work will then decline the request and say sorry I'm busy as something has come up - always with enough time for them to find another place.
As a host in a busy city you will get alot of requests so can choose who you are interested in getting to know and who is the right fit for you and who you would ideally want to stay with in the future and sure you will have a great experience and meet some awesome people.
