Messaging before requesting: a good idea?
Post Body

Hey, I've never used CS before, but I paid my fee and got back on my old-ass account to try and find some places to stay and people to meet to find some places to stay in CA before I start my next job since I just graduated college. I've messaged a dozen people (with good response rates, good times, accepting guests) with the dates I'll be in CA, what I'll be doing, etc. I wanted to message since I didn't want to burn my weekly requests. So far the only replies I've gotten are that they aren't hosting people right now. A couple mentioned the pandemic. I've also messaged a couple people on BeWelcome where half the profiles are just links to their CS lol. Am I doing everything right?
