I hosted a guy and his girlfriend after receiving a last minute request. I let them sleep in the bedroom for two nights. We had an argument when they came home past the curfew agreed upon before.

Anyways, after they left, I discovered that they took my jewelry, clothes, and some stuff from the bathroom. Local police was no help because “they didn’t break into my apartment”, and the Couchsurfing safety team hasn’t gotten back to me.

I’m extremely upset because I collect antique jewelry. None of them is valued over $1000, but this is breaking my heart.

What can I do?

Update: The CS safety team finally got back to me today (8/16). The surfers who were supposed to come next week are extremely upset that I cancelled. Am I being unreasonable? Should I let them stay even though I’m having nightmares? I haven’t heard back from the surfers who were supposed to come next month.
