A surfer told me about a neighboring host (with a ton of references) who refused his request because he "obviously" didn't read her profile. I've pulled this from her profile:
PLEASE READ MY ENTIRE PROFILE BEFORE SENDING ME A REQUEST. (READ BOTH "ABOUT" & "MY HOME" . IF YOU DON'T READ IT, I WILL KNOW THIS, AND I WILL DECLINE YOUR REQUEST.
I've seen it before–people put little hidden gems that you need to find, "mention the word purple in your request or I'll know you didn't read this" or other little tests. What's with that? I generally skim through profiles to see what people are about, but I rarely read it in its entirety.
Any idea why these folks insist that every word is read?
