Hi all, I'm really happy to have found this subreddit, as I was just diagnosed with costo a week ago. With foam rolling, ice/heat, and stretching daily, the pain has subsided a lot. I now only get occasional stabs of pain on my rib right below my breast, as well as some pain right at the edge of my left breast where it meets my sternum (which I know is normal for costo).
Accompanying this near-sternum pain is a pretty big lump, which my doctor said was due to the costo. She gave me a full breast exam, and it was painful when she pressed it then. Now I can press it without much pain, but I've read that this inflammation often sticks around even after the pain goes away.
Can I expect this lumpiness to ever go away? As I'm sure many women suffering from this can relate to, I don't like the feeling of something making it more difficult to feel around when I do self breast exams. I have fibrocystic breasts which already makes it harder. I would really appreciate any insight!
