Reeling in from ER trip
Post Body

Hey, 25 y/o fairly active male. I mountain bike fairly frequently and just started lifting weights again recently.

I noticed a weird pain/tightness in my upper left side of my chest a few times during the week and finally decided to go to the ER after a bit of panic. After 2 ekg tests, 2 blood tests, and a chest X-ray, they determined that it’s nothing to do with my heart but most likely costochondritis due to starting to lift again (chest flys, curls, bench press, shrugs, mainly upper body).

The hardest part by far as been the anxiety about this. I feel like it’s taking up all of my energy. When I got home from the ER I got it into my head that they might’ve missed something and had a full blown anxiety attack, which obviously doesn’t help worrisome feelings about the heart. This subreddit has been a huge help. Seeing people with the exact same symptoms and emotions makes me feel like I’m not alone, thank you so much to everyone sharing.

I’m going to my regular physician this week to give them the update/possibly get another ekg for absolute confirmation.

Has anyone else experienced severe anxiety from this and been able to manage it?
