So I’m landing this February in SJO at around 11:30pm, I’ve heard customs takes a while so I’m expecting to come out around 12:30am. My airport shuttle arrives at 8:30am (this was the earliest I could get with my hostel).
I’ve heard there’s no waiting area in the arrivals section, and so am slightly worried about where I’m going to wait for 8 hours through the night. My shuttle is doing pickup at Malinche cafe, but I’ve heard mixed reviews on whether this place is actually 24 hours. So as of 2024 can anyone please confirm whether it is genuinely open 24 hours? I don’t want to get a hotel or anything and I’m happy to spend a long time in a cafe, I just need to know that it’s a relatively controlled environment and that it’s definitely going to be open in the early hours of the morning?
Edit: Malinche is definitely not 24 hours lol
It's 8 hours in early morning hours on a travel day it's not like I'm going to be trekking through the rainforest if I'm not waiting for shuttle.
Ah ok great thank you so much, from looking at others descriptions of the airport they made it sound like there's no seating areas or waiting rooms available, so are you free to enter the departures section?
It's not about money its about not wanting to navigate San Jose alone at 2am as a solo woman.
