[Help] What sort of strong wire to use for a headpiece?

Post Body

I have a plan this summer to go to a convention with an exclamation mark floating over my head, and hand quests out to people - but first I have to rig up the exclamation mark! I plan to salvage a pair of deely boppers, and have a wire structure lodged inside the springs to provide a base to stick a day-glo exclamation mark onto. Can anyone recommend the best sort of wire to use to make this? It'll need to be fairly sturdy yet easy enough for me to bend into shape with a couple of pairs of pliers. Any ideas? I've considered coat-hanger wire but think it may be too stiff.
