It has come to my attention that a transgender cosplayer with the username u/AlsoAshley has been banned from r/Cosplay. The subreddit claims they banned her for NSFW content, despite her claiming to have never posted a NSFW picture on the subreddit, and the picture that they seemingly used to justify the ban appears to be a SFW picture of Ashley dressed as Nurse Joy from Pokémon.

It is possible that the subreddit moderators feared that underaged users would see the post, and that would lead them to discover Ashley’s other, NSFW content.
However, a quick search will show a number of instances of NSFW performers who have posted cosplays to this subreddit, and have not faced any bans, such as Lana Rain, a cosplayer who I have worked with in the past and have great respect for.

Ashley has suggested that the reason for the ban is because she is transgender. I really hope this is not the case.
Either way, I feel as though the moderators should address this issue, especially if there are cases of other transgender individuals who have been removed from their subreddit.
