Why so much hated towards string theory?
Post Body

*** RANT WARNING ***

First off, I am not even interested in string theory. My interests are in other subject that also make use of n-dimensional geometry, be it actual manifolds or simply pure mathematics. Naturally as string theory is popular I am going to be at least familiar with the various concepts as they share similar mechanics.

I am seeing this elsewhere as well as here on reddit. Someone asks a question that relates to string theory, if I just happen to know the answer, I try to be helpful and point them in the right direction because that was the question they asked. Every single time some gate keeper jumps on me for being unscientific! I am wrong!

I AM A BAD BAD MAN!

Most commonly they happen to be of one particular political persuasion. Why is this subject so hated?
