How is Max being with a black girl redemption?

Unlike others, I actually like Max’s character and am here for his redemption.

My issue is assuming that he something happens with him and Gav’s girlfriend, how would this prove he isn’t racist, which is probably the intended purpose of it happening

He never showed disdain towards the Bailey’s and was friends with Gav anyways. His racism/xenophobia was towards Muslims. I’m tired of this mentality that if you’re racist towards one race, then you’re racist to them all. It really doesn’t work like that.
