Movement animation slowdowns on SteamDeck

I've started playing on SteamDeck and there's an intermittent issue where movement speed drops and seems to drop frames as well. Pops up after maybe an hour or so of playing and I haven't determined any specific cause. Rest of the game still plays fine and if I restart it picks right back up.
Anyone else encounter this and maybe know a fix or workaround?
