I've only been playing this game for about five-six hours now and this system is driving me up a wall. Making shinies have automatically better stats than normal monsters makes me just... not want to bother with catching normal monsters. Because why bother? They'll never be as good as a potent or perfect. At least potents are common enough that I've managed to grab a few for my team, but it sucks that I can't just catch whatever guys I want because I know that if I happen to stumble upon a potent monster later on, they're getting replaced.
Like out of all the systems from Pokemon to add to your game, why the IV system? And why tie it into your shinies?
Anyway other than that, pretty good game. One of the better monster catching games I've played from what I've played so far. If I could just flip a switch to remove the entire potential system from the game, though, I would do so in a heartbeat.

and they're just giving their reasons for why they disagree. you dont have to take their words as an attack. if you want to go out of your way to get perfects, then you can do that, but he's saying to view it less like ivs, and more like shinies. yeah higher potential will technically come with marginally better stats, but there's a reason why there's 3 color variations. if you want to just go for what has the highest potential, do that, if you want to go with the prettiest color scheme, do that. i think what he's getting at is that the game's implementation of it isnt the issue, it's that your mindset leads you to say that it is, and thats your opinion, but also there are multiple facets to the situation at hand
TL;DR just play it how you want to, you can grind out high potential or just use the color scheme you like most, either way just have fun with it
