I have a new Samsung QN43Q90c arriving tomorrow. Replacing a five year old semi-smart Sony Bravia. I’d like to drop DirecTV but have a couple of issues.
We live about 60 miles from the Houston antennas and will miss the “local” stations, particularly for news. OTA reception would be pretty poor to non existent, I’d imagine. Our favorite network shows can be streamed via the sister networks: Peacock, etc. What can we do to get the Houston stations?
We live in a rural area and our only source for internet is a cell signal via an ATT/ZTA Homebase device. We usually get a fair signal of 25-50 ish Mbps. (Speedtest) We have no trouble streaming Netflix, Amazon Prime, MAX, Peacock, etc., though Paramount Plus is awful, giving us a lengthy buffering every couple of minutes until we get an error message and it crashes. I’ve read many reports that this is common with Paramount Plus and that it requires very high download speeds to work well. Much higher than other services.
So, my question is… with my current set up, will we be able to enjoy the full benefits of streaming everything with this new TV, enabling us to Cut the Cord? We are already paying for a few premium subscriptions. Even if we added a few more, we are well ahead when dropping the $150 a month DirecTV service.
Thanks!
