How do I explain to my boss that I can't write what he wants in the theatre of his mind?

Hi there I'm getting frustrated and stuck. I write for a corporate social media account and I have tried to take in every bit of direction and tone my boss has given me to write the copy for our company social accounts. It is impossible to get him to agree with the things I write. I'm so frustrated I'm about to throw in the towel and ask him to write the copy himself.
Is anyone in a similar situation and how do you explain to your boss that you can't literally take the words out of his head?
