If we consider the objective standards by which ‘movies’ are judged as an art form, regardless of genre, marvel movies fully rely on their source material and barely engage at all with the cinematic forms. LOTR films on the other hand, are able to exist outside of their source material because they actually engage with cinematic language. Marvel movies are literally he lowest common denominator in the movie industry. They’re like going on YouTube and just watching pewdiepie. Marvel movies have not advanced cinema in any way. All they are are high budget nursery rhymes for adults who like experiencing the same story over and over again
