Oh no fr. They're vicious and take no prisoners.
I reckon the worst you'd get is a cave weta (they're pretty massive and scary but harmless) or some type of spider or bat (also harmless).
The only dangerous spiders we have here are white tails and katipo, the white tail bites are just annoying (redness, itchiness initial swelling and burning) and have no long-term effects.
Katipo are increasingly rare and aren't aggressive, but you always gotta shake out your shorts at the beach in case any have gotten comfy in there. I have never had a bite from one, so this is based off google and word of mouth, but it seems like pain that intensifies over a few hours, sweating, difficulty breathing, and abdominal cramps. Definitely urgent care or A&E material if you're feeling sus about it.
Recently we've gotten some redbacks from Aus, they're pretty rare though and only bite when disturbed or trapped in clothing so it's a very rare occurrence. I haven't been bitten by one of those either thankfully, but my God get yourself to the hospital if you do.
TL;DR, yeah, you're more likely to run into a sheep, or a weta.
