Trouble putting my lenses on

I (17M) got some trials on Friday, the nurse helped me and showed me how to put and take them out and they worked well the entire day, on Saturday I tried to put them myself and it felt uncomfortable, I had to keep blinking to stop the discomfort. Sunday I tired the other eye and same thing. I told my mom and she says it he to be something Iām doing wrong bc they worked well when the nurse helped me, what can be the issue with me?
