I worked in management consulting for 2 years as a business analyst, and I've been on the corporate strategy team at my current (tech services) company for 1.5 years as a senior strategy analyst. I was recently promoted to a manager position and will be transitioning to our technology team. My new role isn't strictly defined. Broadly speaking, most of my work will involve identifying inefficiencies across the company that can be solved via technological means, but I keep my fingers in a lot of pots.
I have the opportunity to strongly influence my job title. I want something that clearly speaks to my strategy background and the broadness of the role, especially since I lack brand-name recognition. I've been leaning toward "Manager of Special Projects" (career path toward Chief of Staff?) or "Tech Strategy Manager" (we've had an Operations Strategy Director role previously), but I'd like to hear opinions here of those who've exited or know others who've exited consulting to the corporate world.
