After launching as an independent consultant in May 2013, I was totally solvent in the first 6 months and looking really good. Then I moved to another state in March 2014 and everything went very downhill. Business actually seemed to get worse every quarter until Q4 when it was the worst it's ever been. Even worse than our first full quarter.
Just as I was ready to let the dream die and started looking for a full-time job, calls and proposal requests started coming in from a bunch of directions starting basically Jan 1 and not stopping. So far, I've even told one PR thanks but no thanks.
I've made some changes to the way we operate in the hopes that diversifying and outsourcing trouble areas will help us to never have another quarter like that again, but I'm still really confused.
I don't want to be an employee, but full-time jobs are after me too, and I'm so worried that this is some kind of mirage. Just as I was going to quit, January is the best month I've ever had. Has this ever happened to you guys?
People told me it takes 2 years to really get your feet under you. Is this what they meant?
