Ever noticed how the Westminster system manages to divide to voting public so close to 50/50 that anything more than a 1% swing is considered a 'landslide'? No matter whether it's Democrats v Republicans, Liberal v Labor, or Tory v Whig, the results are always the same.

This is what is what is classically known as divide et empera. Divide and rule. They keep the population fighting among themselves over matters of little consequence while both sides are secretly pursuing the same agenda.

For the nautically minded there is a sailing maneuver called tacking, or 'going about', which is used when sailing into a head wind. The idea is to steer the ship across the headwind, by first turning the sail to port, then starboard, and so on. Sailing a little to the left, a little to the right, but always moving steadily forward.

Anyway, I find it entertaining to watch a guy from the left talking to a guy from the right who have both pretty much figured it out.
