And I hearing right?

So in the beginning I heard this dispute was because when Russia gave Ukraine independence the deal was that they would always help supply water to Russia since the main water goes through Ukraine. And Ukraine stopped supplying Russia with water so in the long run didn't Ukraine start this undoubtedly useless war? The rest of the world does not want to get involved, NATO does but that isn't the world!! The citizens!! And also heard that Ukraine was bombing its own citizens not Russia... Ukraine is a vassal state of The United States.
