Why is there no solution to gun violence/school shootings other than bickering about banning guns?
Post Body

Watching the news its completely stupid and nothing either side does is making progress. The narratives seem like either "we need MORE guns" "we need to ban guns entirely" or "it is just the price we have to pay for having a free society to own guns" or "actually its drag queens that are a danger to society"

Sure its a complicated situation, how can we have both freedom and safety but why is the only solution either banning or not banning guns? That doesn't seem productive

Like there must be some way to outfit school with not necessarily a metal detector but something to detect guns? If there is nothing we can do to prevent mass shooting why can there at least not be some sort of preventative safety measure to protect public places ?

I know people have suggested like arming teachers/more police in schools but both of those do not seem like great ideas to me. I dont trust police and the idea of making every teacher capable of using a gun in some kind of high stress situation like that does not seem realistic

I feel like this is just another ruse to keep the public fighting with each other instead of uniting against the powers that be
