Used 60gb ps3 not playing ps2 games

Bought this used 60gb ps3 off ebay. Thing came in original box with manuals, really clean. Cant seem to play ps2 games though. Screen goes black and controller turns off, blue and green lights stay solid. Same thing happens when I reset the display and choose SD rather than hdmi when hdmi is plugged in.
