How to Make a Language for Beginners
Post Body

I saw this post and thought I could expand on it.

The Romlang/Germanic Lang

This one is a guaranteed hit. I mean, basically all languages are like this. It only makes sense, you know? Why would a verb be anywhere but between the subject and direct object? Well, unless it's a question or some other weird thing. But you're a beginner, so it doesn't matter.

Anyway, don't do this kind of language if you're an expert in Romance or Germanic languages. It'll be too different from languages I understand, i.e. how languages should be.

The Relex

This is a great and easy way to make a conlang really fast. Just write things and replace all the words with different ones. That way, everyone will be able to learn it! However, if you insist on making up fake words for your language, here are some things that you should avoid:

Classifiers - These are words that designate economic or social classes. I don't know why but Asians use these sometimes. That's weird.

Noun classes - Like most classes, they're pretty boring. Don't use these.

Clusivity - This describes how much of a clue something is. For example, "red herring" means that it isn't very clusive. As you can see, "red herring" is two words, so you can't make individual words that do this.

Other persons - These are irrelevant people. Don't make words for them.

I know that's a lot, but don't worry, there's more:

Voice - This doesn't make sense to do unless your language is spoken, and if it's different from English, that's probably about impossible, so don't use voice.

Argument agreement - I don't even need to link to anything here. This is just clearly impossible from the name.

The information theory behind word order - This term is really long and I don't get it. Don't use.

Morphosynapse Ailment - This has something to do with mental illness, so you shouldn't build that into the language. This isn't rocket science, guys.

Dependent clauses - I vaguely remember my grammar teacher saying something about this at one point, but they never mentioned it again and I never used it, so it's clearly unimportant.

The Oligosynthetic Language

This is when you make a language out of Oligos. That sounds pretty awesome, really. Why wouldn't you want to make a language out of Oligos? If you made a language out of Oligos I would totally learn it.

Since the 1800s BC, scientists have been arguing over whether Oligos or Legos make a better building material for languages. However, they shortly found that Legos didn't actually exist, so that's why we use Oligos. I hope this helps.

The No-Phonotactics

Phonotactics are a tool of the white cisheteropatriarchal Islamist Ijewminatti corporate affordable welfare New Brave World feminazist Blue Man Group oppressive GMO gluten Orwellian communist fascist socialist Marxist anarchist collective [1], so don't put any in your language whatsoever or it will poison your groundwater and curse your descendants. Just make every word random sounds that you make up on the spot. That's what a language really is, after all, am I right?

Alright guys I spent literal years researching this so I hope it was immeasurably helpful kthxbai don't forget to uvularize your semilabial clicks
