Using GitHub for language collaboration?

With the recent post about Logla, a developing Lojban dialect, I noticed that the user responsible has made a number of language projects on GitHub. This seems like a good idea for others to use because:
- It's designed to make identification and resolution of issues easy
- It makes collaboration easier
- It's free
- Probably other reasons
