Friend called me a whale (19F)
Post Body

I met this girl in my college class and we hit it off . We hung out everyday we went to college for now 5 months. I enjoy being around her and her friend group but there's something very off.

She constantly talks down about fat girls. If it isn't her making snide remarks about her friend not fitting into her dress , it's how plus size models shouldn't exist. I honestly just brushed it off as she's just little insensitive. Maybe she doesn't mean any harm.

We went shopping as a big girl group. She picked up a size 10 and said OH MY GOSH I'm not fat ewww I can't wear this. Then she looked at me and went ... ohh I'm sorry . I brushed it off again thinking maybe she just said it without thinking . Nothing personal. I'm a size 14 , I'm obviously what most would call fat. Well a couple minutes later she starts giving our friends animal nicknames. She called one of the girls a gorilla and me a whale. ( I'm the biggest girl in the friend group). I was shocked...and repeated what she said. She said it without hesitation. You are whale and I'm a cute animal haha.

Then she started apologizing profusely and laying her head on me. Saying she didn't mean what she said. I was flustered and accepted her apology. But ....it just feels like I'm in the playground again. I never thought at this age, I'm going to get teased for my weight.
