So this happened over last month or so with the final pay off coming in the mail today. So I’m a big believer in Karma and generally what goes around comes around. I’m usually pretty much a decent person and for the most part so is my life.

Over the last month or so life has been a fair amount crappier however. A tree limb broke off my tree and broke my neighbors fence, costing me a vacation day about $50. I hardly ever get sick, got sick twice in a week. Went for a promotion and despite seemingly being the better candidate got turned down. And although not bad luck having friends and relatives weddings, bachelor parties and baby’s coming in the fall kinda sucks when you’re still alone a week shy of being in your mid thirties.

So this weekend as I’m out walking my dogs I thought maybe this is the start of a good run for me when I see a $5 laying right off the sidewalk on our way back home. I pick it up thinking good deal that’s finally something going my way as we walk across the street from the field next to the school where I let the dogs run. When I’m just coming to where the sidewalk hits my street I run into an lady asking me if I’ve seen five dollars around. Well finders keepers I thought and it’s only five bucks so I said no sorry didn’t see anything. Then she said of well my grandson was just out cutting the neighbors grass and he lost the money they paid him. Shit! At that point I couldn’t give it back cause I didn’t want to be a lair and a dick so I just said if I saw it I’d let her know and tried to hurry up and get back to my house without it falling out of my pocket right in front of her. I got home and felt like an ass but was way past the point of no return so I just said forget it and used it to get a couple beers.

Well fast forward to today and I come home from work and grab the mail. In it is a letter from a collections agency for a seatbelt ticket I got in south Padre Island on spring break back in 2007. I could have swore I paid but have no way of proving it now and with the fines and failure to appear it’s now over $500. I know the two have nothing to do with each other but I knew as soon as that lady said it was her grandkids grass cutting money karma was gonna come back to screw me I just didn’t think it would be so quick and so hard.
