Monitors not registering input

I was playing a game and all of a sudden both of my monitors went black. my computer still running and i could still hear the game going. i tried doing a bunch of unplugging and re plugging but nothing seems to work to fix the situation. Any advice on what else i could do to trouble shoot? I’m not too well versed with tech so i’m not sure where to start apart from what i’ve already done.
