So I work as a teacher, and recently we got hit by the Royal Ransomware hack. They sent out ransom notes to all network printers saying we needed to pay their fee for them to stop holding our data hostage.
I don't really know any details about the situation other than the IT department is working around the clock to clear each server and device.
My main question is whether or not it is safe to log into my work email account from a personal device right now. We have been instructed to not use work devices as they could possibly spread whatever hack to our personal networks, but they haven't said anything about logging into the email system.
It's an email system through Google and tied to a Google account. It just has a unique @______isd ending to the email address instead of @gmail.com.
I really need to know because as a teacher there's an expectation of parents and students being able to reach me via email for questions and concerns in the classroom as well as updates from work. I'm just really scared of possibly getting my personal devices hacked or something. I was considering going to a library to use one of their devices to log in, but if it's dangerous I'd hate to spread the danger to them.
Thanks in advance!
