Can I swap a 3090 for a 4090 when released?

Iām buying an Alienware Arura from a friend for a great price, $1,400 and it has 2tb SSD, 32gb ram and a 3090 GPU. My question is would I be able to swap out the 3090 for a 4090 or 4090 ti? Or might the case size and motherboard and other hardware not be compatible?
