how does my gpu suck

So I just got a brand new laptop with a GeForce gtx 1060 ti or 6gb. My old laptop had a 5 year old 900 something gpu. My new laptop can barely run Minecraft for example at 20 fps while my old one can stay at 60 sometimes 90 on the same settings. Is there a way to fix this problem if not can I have an explanation why? Thanks guys.
Edit: also my new laptop artifacts super bad when I run escape from tarkov
