I have two sets of compost. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I am on mobile. Thank you!
1) is bin with hay and lawn clipping about 50/50 with some of an old compost pile thrown in. I hope to use this as compost by the end of the year. A) The bin is partially under the deck. It gets morning sun then is shaded most of the day. Should I put it in a sunny area or is it good? B) I have ventilation holes. Do I need drainage holes? C) Do I need to turn it every now and then? D) Is it possible to use this before the end of the year?
2) is a mostly dirt pile with lawn clippings, kitchen scraps, and dried leaves. I'm using this one to keep adding my kitchen scraps to. Then I hope to rotate it into the bin once the bin is done. A) Is okay to just leave as a pile? B) When I add new kitchen scraps I mix them in. Should I mix the whole pile when I do so? C) I wet this one day occasionally as it is fully in the sun until evening. Should I soak or just wet it a little?
