I've been noticing some things in my short time of a year and a half as a comic reader mainly for Marvel and DC that a good majority of the fans tend to get worked up over about when certain characters do or behave in ways that are not in the "classic rendition" manner of those characters from 2 decades ago.
For example, as much as I really like the current run of Superman and how he's portrayed as a more hopeful and inspiring hero, I really loved the idea of him dating Wonder Woman in NEW 52 and he actually wanted to marry her! (Establishments treat it as a fling when it wasn't)
And people always say give flack about on the current run of the ASM as not being a good Spidey because, "Oh. He's not Peter Parker anymore. He's Tony Stark." or they harp on for like forever that he's not dating MJ when I'm more than happy for him to explore his options for love interests that extend to the superhero community.
Like this example for the last week's Flash #5 issue when Barry took his mask off for another speedster that he was working with who he's probably going to be dating in the future. People lost their shit about that! I mean let the characters grow and do different things while keeping the core of who they are, but I feel like I just had to get these things off of my chest because it was just something that was bugging me.
