I'm not a business person, so I'm genuinely curious about this. I buy my comics online, so every single week I scroll through all available comics releasing that week rather than just what one comic book store might have. Dynamite, in particular, often has 20 variant covers for the same comic book. Sometimes they go over 26 and start labeling them things like "variant BB". I can't figure out where the profit is in that. My only guess is that someone is speculating that one particular cover will be valuable 20 years from now, so they buy every single variant cover for their collection. However, there can't be that many people out there doing it to justify the company doing whatever extra work is involved to make all of those different variants. So, if anyone here has a business mind or works in the industry, please explain how this makes sense for the comic book company and their profits. Thanks.
