Dialogue boxes in Modern Titles

Post Body

I just started reading King Spawn after the cameo/tease in the lastest issue of Killadelphia. In reading the first two arcs, I noticed there is quite a bit of "telling" instead of letting the art & minimal dialogue speak for itself. Javi Fernandez does an amazing job on art, and I feel the additional narrative dialogue boxes are redunant and sometimes distracting. King Spawn #12 pg.5

I'm not sure if the other Spawn books do this as well, but it is very Silver Age-esque. Are there other modern titles that do this? If so, do people like this use of dialogue boxes?
